Josh Hutcherson Joins SBNN

The Kids Are All Right star Josh Hutcherson has teamed up with actor pal Avan Jogia to help him combat homophobia among teenagers.

The young star, who will lead the cast of this summer’s (12) The Hunger Games, is among the young celebrities promoting Jogia’s campaign as part of his Straight But Not Narrow organisation.
He’ll take part in a series of public service announcements urging heterosexual youths to be more understanding towards gay friends and schoolmates.

He says, “To have a manly guy come out and say, ‘Yeah guys, being gay is totally cool…’ I think this is getting the message out there that it makes you more of a man to be comfortable with who you are and what you believe in.”

Victorious Season 2: DVD

The complete second season of Victorious is coming to you! The DVD release date is May 15th, 2012. I’ll be back with more details of where you can find this, but most likely your local Walmart, K-Mart, & Target.

Avan Goes Green With Cast

BOP & Tiger Beat recently hung out with the cast of Victorious at Thomas Starr King Middle School in Los Angeles, California. The Nickelodeon stars were there on behalf of The Big Help to partner up with the National Wildlife Federation and local sixth graders to plant a garden in back of the school. Ariana Grande, Avan Jogia, Leon Thomas III, Daniella Monet, Elizabeth Gillies and Matt Bennett were all there getting down and dirty (Victoria Justice couldn’t make it because she was in England for the BRIT Awards). They helped create an eco-friendly campus with the lucky students by building compost bins and planters. Watch the video to see the cast in action and find out what they were like in middle school!

Avan Jogia Promotes GSA

Avan and Josh Hutcherson were interviewing kids in the Gay Straight Alliance Clubs and helping GSA spread their message around the world. If you didn’t know Avan Jogia is the founder of the Straight But Not Narrow movement which features videos of young, straight and mostly male celebrities speaking out in support of their gay friends. Below is the video of Avan and Josh promoting GSA and why these kids wanted to make a difference in their community.

LAS VEGAS, Jan. 10, 2012 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ — A voice-activated password journal recently became the 19th product in Sakar International’s collection of branded consumer electronics and accessories for Victorious, the hit Nickelodeon live-action comedy starring Victoria Justice as a student at a performing arts high school. The full line – created in collaboration with Nickelodeon Consumer Products – ranges from a $14.99 walkie talkie set to a $99.99 high-end karaoke system reflecting the show’s strong music-related storyline.

Other music-oriented Victorious merchandise released by Sakar since the collection began shipping in October includes branded MP3 and CD players, a CD boombox, plush headphones, earbuds, microphone stand and a portable karaoke system. The line also spans a digital camera and pocket digital video recorder; room accessories including a corded phone, SMS text messengers, light-up message board and clock radio; and computer accessories including a wireless optical mouse, USB flash drive and netbook sleeve.

Next on the roadmap is an iPad karaoke system that includes speakers and a mic with an iPad docking station, which will allow consumers to download an app called Karaoke Anywhere enabling lyrics to be displayed on the iPad instead of a separate karaoke machine. Expected release date is Q2. All products are currently available at Toys ‘R Us.

Since its launch in April 2010, Victorious has been the number-one program in its timeslot on all TV with tweens 9-14 and teens 12-17, reaching 15.1 million tweens and 11.4 million teens each quarter. The show has earned multiple awards and industry accolades, including a 2011 Emmy Award nomination for Outstanding Children’s Program.

Victorious follows teenager Tori Vega (Victoria Justice) who attends the prestigious performing arts high school, Hollywood Arts.
